HOUSTON: Endeavour’s seven astronauts are waiting for permission for landing. Analysts on the ground were studying the situation and expected to make a decision soon.

The shuttle is due back on Earth on Sunday, ending a 16-day mission. Hours before the final inspection Friday, Endeavour undocked from the space station after spending 12 days there.

NASA noticed a half-inch ding on a window but they didn’t think it would pose any danger, Earlier in the week.

Meanwhile, talking to a television channel, flight director Mike Sarafin said Fridaym “This has been a highly successful mission.”

Besides making preparations to land Saturday, shuttle astronauts had a round of television interviews.
