Tharoor visits Dubai, discusses bilateral ties

Shashi TharoorOn his first official foreign tour after assuming office, Minister of State for External Affairs Shashi Tharoor Tuesday met with senior ministers of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) during his day-long visit to Dubai.

Tharoor arrived in Dubai Tuesday on way to Yemen, where he will represent India at the council of ministers meeting of the Indian Ocean Rim Association for Regional Cooperation.

Tharoor met with Minister for Foreign Trade Sheikha Lubna and Minister for Cabinet Affairs Mohammad Al Gergawi and reviewed bilateral relations and discussed opportunities to intensify them.

Tharoor also attended a dinner hosted in his honour by the Indian consul general, a press statement issued here said.

The dinner was attended by Arab dignitaries, business leaders and Indian community members, with UAE Education Minister Sheikh Nahyan being the chief guest.
