Security and cricket issues in J&K

Srinagar: The armed forces have embarrassed themselves by not turning up for the for a Ranji Trophy match against J&K scheduled to begin in Srinagar on Tuesday.

Though the decision was reversed after BCCI decided to bar the team, and vociferous criticism poured in from diverse quarters.

Both Union minister Farooq Abdullah who is the J&K cricket association president, and state chief minister Omar Abdullah tore into the armed forces for following “double standards” by first claiming successes against militancy and then withdrawing their cricket team on the grounds of security.
