Lucknow: In Muzaffarnagar, a dialogue involving the district authorities, sugarcane farmers and mill owners did not come to any solution.

No solution yet between sugarcane farmers and mill owners

The mill owners are offering Rs 165-170 per quintal plus a bonus of Rs 15 per quintal to farmers.

Farmers are demanding Rs 250-280 per quintal for their produce because their input cost increased due to drought this year.

The rates offered by mills are as per the State Advisory Price (SAP) fixed by the state government.

Major sugar mill groups in the state have not been able to start crushing, which has already been delayed by over 50 days so far.

But state government officials claimed that several mills have started working and said that mill owners have been asked not to import raw sugar for processing till the fresh cane is available for crushing.

The crushing season in UP should have started on October 1.
